My name is Julie Vaughan and it is a privilege to teach 2nd grade at Willard South Elementary. The 2016-2017 school year will mark my 16th year of teaching and I couldn’t feel more proud to be a part of the Willard Community.
When I’m not at school I am a wife to my high school sweetheart, Brad, and mother to 3 fantastic children. My oldest, Nathan, will soon turn 12 and is in 6th grade, Katie will celebrate her 9th birthday in September and is in 3rd grade this year, and my 7 year old son Alex rounds out our bunch and will be a 2nd grader. As you can imagine, they keep me very busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I LOVE spending time with my family outside working in the yard, going for walks, riding bikes, playing sports, and grilling out. I also LOVE baseball and I could spend all day at the fields watching my kids play. My family enjoys watching the St. Louis Cardinals in the Summer and the Golden State Warriors in the Winter. I like listening to music of all kinds and watching movies when there's a free moment.
I am a Springfield native and I graduated from Parkview High School in 1996. I went on to attend SMSU (now MSU) where I graduated in 2001. I am working toward a Master's Degree in Counseling because I enjoy making personal connections with my students. I've never gone far from home and suspect this is where I'll be my whole life. I love the area, I love my school, and I love my students! I consider my students my family away from home and nothing brightens my day quite like a visit from a former student.
I feel honored that you have given me the opportunity to teach your child this year. I am looking forward to getting to know each student in depth and working closely with you to help your child reach their greatest potential.
